About the Dog Barrier
Homerun Manufacturing specialises in the manufacture of Dog Barrier for all vehicles.
Based in Cape Town, the business originated while in the automotive seat cover business, as many clients enquired about dog partitions for their vehicles. After thorough market research on what types of dog restraints were available on the South African market, and having tried quite a few of them, with very disappointing results , the decision was made to design the best Dog Barrier we could.
There are many cheap Chinese universal type structures which require an engineering degree to install, only then to discover that my Jack Russell could easily navigate his way through them. Most of these have ended up stored in the garage, permanently. There are those made of webbing straps or netting which might as well be biltong flavoured, and once they’re knotted, they end up under the seat.
The Design
The most effective dog partitions locally, are those supplied by the vehicle dealerships, but these are very expensive, require qualified fitting and are generally permanent fixtures. The other problem is that not all vehicles are catered for by their dealerships. Many dealerships now sell our Dog Barrier on order, but are not permitted to stock them due to OEM requirements.
The South African market required a Dog Barrier which the average house-wife driving Fortuner, Discovery or small sedan could easily fit or remove whenever the barrier was needed. No mechanical knowledge or tools required, and no holes are drilled.
Our Dog Barrier is made out of welded steel mesh which is cut to a template for your model vehicle. A padded outer edge is then fitted to the mesh for protection. The finished Dog Barrier only weighs about 2 kilo’s.
